Message from the Chairman

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

My husband Mike and I have supported United Way for many years because its Community Impact model works. The flexibility and expediency of our United Way to identify our most pressing needs, to locate and fund providers of quality services to meet those needs and, at the same time, to demand fiscal and performance accountability and transparency from those providers, is the greatest example of the value of our United Way to our community.

Sharing our belief in the mission of United Way and pride in its results are 136 Tocqueville Society members – including 18 new members –whose photographs and words grace these pages. These are leaders who understand that we all win when a child succeeds in school, when families are financially stable and when people have good health.

I hope that you will join me and Mike in welcoming Phyllis M. Taylor to the roster of recipients of our prestigious Alexis de Tocqueville Award. This year’s celebration, on November 12, 2009, promises to be our most inspiring, elegant and fun event to date.

Thank you again for your generosity and for your investment in the future of our community.

Sincerely,

Kim Sport
Tocqueville Society Chairman
