Emergency Disaster Assistance - Tangipahoa - Emergency assistance is provided to victims of disaster every 85 hours in Tangipahoa Parish. From July 2009-June 2010, the Red Cross responded to disasters, affecting more than 375 individuals. There were 7,077 meals provided to individuals affected by disasters. Temporary Housing, Food, Water, Snacks, Clothing and Medical Needs are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. |

Tangipahoa Cancer Patient Services - One out of every three people will receive a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. This program allows Tangipahoa Parish residents who are diagnosed with cancer and faced with financial needs to receive direct assistance. Prescription medications, transportation, medical equipment rental, nutritional supplements, utility deposits, doctor and hospital bills and other costs of medical care and treatment are available. |

Children’s Advocacy Centers (CAC) of Louisiana reports one in every eight boys and one in every four girls experiences a form of abuse by the age of 18. In 2009-2010, 571 children received services. VOICE, HEALING, and SECURITY are provided to children and families in 10 parishes including Ascension, Assumption, East and West Feliciana, Livingston, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John, and Tangipahoa. A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is a member of the community appointed by a judge to advocate on a one on one basis for children in need of care, helping them reach a safe and permanent home. Services are provided to protect children from becoming further victims of child abuse and neglect. 151 children received a CASA. |

Tangipahoa Girl Scouting - The Girl Scout program can change the way girls see the world and their place in it. Girls learn the importance of responsibility, the value of goal setting, the spirit of teamwork, and the thrill of accomplishment. Enabling girls to develop to their full potential; relate to others with understanding, skill, and respect; develop a meaningful set of values to guide their actions to provide for sound decision-making and contribute to the improvement of society. During July 2009-June 2010; 843 girls and adults were served. |

Vocational Training for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities - OPTIONS help men and women with disabilities live and work in the community. As they become valued, respected, integral members of the community; self esteem, performance and productivity are increased OPTIONS is the only agency in Tangipahoa Parish providing a full-spectrum of services which include vocational, residential, transportation and family support. OPTIONS currently serves 155 men and women with developmental disabilities in Tangipahoa Parish. |

Our Daily Bread-Gear Up - This food recovery operation distributed over 2 million pounds of food in 2009 to the needy of Tangipahoa Parish. Over 30,000 hot meals are served between two soup kitchens; one in the north end of the parish and one in the south end of the parish. Over 31,000 pantry boxes were distributed at 18 pantry sites located throughout the parish. Over 800 emergency boxes are prepared for fire victims, abandoned parents with children, older and disabled individuals and those referred to us by other social service agencies. Serving over 8,000 individuals with 250 volunteers and 22,000 hours of assistance. |

Regina Coeli Child Development Center - The program operates 6 Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Tangipahoa Parish. Providing high-quality, comprehensive early childhood services promoting school readiness to children 6 weeks to 5 years old. Striving to provide children with early literacy and numeracy skills, enhance children’s growth and development, strengthen families as the primary educators of their children, involve parents n decision making and link children to needed health , mental health, dental, disability, and social services. In 2009-2010 660 individuals were served. Recent surveys indicate Tangipahoa Parish has approximately 8,438 children under the age of 5 years old. |

Hammond Family Law Unit - SLLS has addressed the legal needs of domestic violence victims for the last 25 years. In Tangipahoa Parish 526 hours of legal service were provided in 2009-2010. As a result, 132 victims of domestic violence from Tangipahoa Parish applied to SLLS for legal help. SLLS is the only provider of free legal assistance in Tangipahoa Parish for civil cases. |

Domestic Violence program - Tangipahoa Parish - This program promotes social change by providing services which empower battered and abused individuals and their dependent children to achieve safe, violence-free lives. Domestic violence is an epidemic in Tangipahoa Parish. In Louisiana, 1 in 4 women are survivors of domestic violence at some point within their lifetime. Nationwide, 1.3 million women are victims of domestic violence annually. 755 survivors of domestic violence in Tangipahoa Parish received services in fiscal year 2009. |

Nutritional Food Distribution - The Tangi Food Pantry collects food and funds from community businesses, congregations, individuals and organizations and uses these donations to feed those in need of food on both an emergency and continual basis. During July 2009-June 2010; 39,680 Tangipahoa residents received groceries from The Tangi Food Pantry. |

Tangipahoa Voluntary Council On Aging |

Senior Citizen Services - Well-balanced meals are provided 250 days of the year, delivering 5 meals weekly to homes throughout Tangipahoa Parish. This program served 62,933 home delivered and 35,371 hot, congregate meals to 1,297 residents of Tangipahoa Parish age 60 and older who are homebound, isolated, in danger of depression and other medical conditions resulting from poor nutrition. |

Early Intervention Program - Infant Habilitation provides home-based teaching for children with disabilities between the ages birth to three years, to enhance development. TARC is the only agency that serves children and families with special needs in Tangipahoa Parish.
