Greetings,
I am Gwendolyn “Gwen” Wade, a retired principal from the St. Tammany Parish School System. United Way has provided numerous volunteer opportunities for me the past several years. Those opportunities include: Leadership Council Member, Northshore Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) Chairperson, WLC Governing Board Member, implementation of the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (an early literacy program), and participation on several committees. Now, I am excited about serving as the 2010 -2011 Campaign Chairperson for United Way serving St. Tammany.
United Way is a nonprofit organization that greatly enhances the quality of life in our Parish. The level of success is directly connected to the dedication of volunteers and supporters as well as contributors across the region. You are KEY to addressing the needs of individuals in our community: youth, adults and families. We solicit your support now to continue enhancing our quality of life. Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
The program provides new, carefully selected, age-appropriate books to children every month for the first five years of their lives for free, regardless of their family's income. The program also encourages parents to read with their children during their preschool years, giving them a big boost toward a successful education.
