Celebrate the New Year and the start of the 2008 Carnival Season by treating yourself to a parade of mouthwatering gumbos and desserts as the top chefs from some of the finest local restaurants compete for the title of ‘Best Gumbo’!

On Friday, January 18, 2007, from 5 - 8 p.m., United Way, along with its corporate sponsors-- Chateau Sonesta Hotel, Latter & Blum and Shell Exploration & Production Co. -- will proudly host its Eigth Annual Got Gumbo Cook-Off at the Chateau Sonesta Hotel, 800 Iberville Street, D. H. Holmes Ballroom.

Participating in the event are Arnaud’s, Brennan’s, Chateau Sonesta, Desire Oyster Bar, Dickie Brennan’s Steak House, Palace Café, Red Fish Grill and more!

Chefs will prepare a pot of gumbo and/or specialty dessert. Celebrity judges will be presented with a sampling from each establishment for each category. After the tasting, the judges will announce a winner.

The event is open to the general public and TICKETS ARE $25 at the door. Children under 3 are free.

All proceeds from the event will benefit United Way’s gumbo of services.
