New Orleans Women Working Hard and Taking Charge
United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) is working hard to advance New Orleans’ progress regarding healthcare and child care – two of the city’s biggest issues.
The WLC has named Touro Infirmary as its official Health Care Partner. Both groups share a vision of ensuring that all children in the Greater New Orleans Area are healthy, safe, and functioning physically, emotionally, intellectually and socially at their optimal potential. Touro will serve as the exclusive health care donor for all WLC events involving health care screenings and health expert presentations or seminars.
In other WLC news, Gambit Communications donated $50,000 to the Women’s Leadership Council. Gambit has specifically requested that the money be used to assist a child care center in the Gentilly area. “Kids of Excellence” child care center, located on Franklin Avenue in Gentilly, is part of Success By 6 and the Greater New Orleans Rebuild Child Care Centers, will receive this much needed donation.
The mission of the WLC is to support unique health and human service needs of women and children in the New Orleans area through leadership, philanthropy and advocacy.
