Nonprofits with limited funds often cannot afford new computers. As a result, they delay updating much needed electronic equipment. Fortunately, United Way once again had the opportunity to partner with IBM to donate computers to local organizations.
Grace Child Care Center, Lower 9th Ward Neighborhood Empowerment Network Association, Epilepsy Foundation of LA each received one IBM THINKCENTER M55 Computer with 17” Flat Panel Monitors.
“United Way is very excited to again partner with IBM in bringing technology to the greater New Orleans Area , especially when partnering with such effective organizations,” said Nicole Saulnier-Timmons, United Way’s Disaster Response Director.
Among its many public service donations, IBM matches equipment to the needs of places where its own employees volunteer.
“In-kind donations from big businesses can be a great resource in times of disaster, but they’re effective only if they meet the recipients’ needs and if the donor follows through with proper customization, set-up and training,” said Stanley S. Litow, Vice President, Corporate Community Relations. |
