Facebook Challenge Could Win $5,000 for LAUW

By 2010, the young adults of “Gen Y” or the “Millennial Generation” will grow to be the largest generation in the country.  The United Way Challenge on Facebook, a social networking site, is connecting non-profit organizations such as United Way with America’s next generation.

The Challenge consists of three phases:

  • Inviting members to your cause (June 21st – June 28th, $5,000 in grant awards)
  • Mobilizing members to engage, learn more and recruit (June 29th – August 31st, $10,000 in grant awards) and
  • Activating them in a Day of Action once the school year begins in the Fall (September 1st – October 31st, $35,000 in grant awards). 

Although Phase one is already complete, United Ways can participate in either Phase Two or Three, or both!

The Louisiana Association of United Ways is currently participating in Phase Two of this challenge.  Click on the following link to become an advocate for our cause! The cause with the most “advocates” will receive $5,000 for their United Way. An advocate is a member of the cause who has recruited 3 friends to join the cause.
