St. Bernard Project/WLC "Women's Week Rebuild" Hugh Success

For six days volunteers worked at least seven hours a day for a total of 4,200 hours of volunteer labor. Families’ homes that Hurricane Katrina rendered uninhabitable were rebuilt.

Women's Rebuild Week is the result of a partnership between the St. Bernard Project and the United Way's Women's Leadership Council. With a donation of $100,000 from the Tide Corp., volunteers from the New Orleans area and around the country refurbished homes in St. Bernard Parish.

Since the St. Bernard Project formed a partnership with the United Way of Greater New Orleans, they have moved more than 70 families back into their homes at an average cost of $10,000 per house. And volunteers are working on more than 20 houses now.

Because of your help, 15 families are now so much closer to moving back into their homes.
