Club HIIP, the wellness center at Penrose St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs, held its annual health fair at Penrose-St. Francis Health Services, a non-profit organization. Club HIIP is an employee Health Improvement Incentive Program; the program holds health screenings for two weeks each spring.
This year, the wellness center’s theme for the health fair was Mardi Gras and was focused on the goal of raising awareness and donation for Hurricane Katrina victims.
The fair held a T-Shirt Drive and a prize raffle, which included a grand prize drawing for Two Round-Trip Tickets to New Orleans for a 3 night stay and a tour of Mardi Gras World. Proceeds resulted in a donation check for United Way for the Greater New Orleans Area. The check will be used to buy gift cards for hurricane victims to use in order to buy groceries and other necessities.
The Grand Prize Trip winner, Laurine Hennings, will be coming to New Orleans and delivering the check and the donated shirts to United Way.
Club HIIP’s health screening reaches many employees and volunteers who do not see their doctor on a regular basis or at all. They play a big part in helping motivate people to take better care of their health.
