Omni Bank Representatives deliver computers to United Way staff.
“This donation is helping out tremendously,” said Dick Breuhl, United Way’s V.P. of MIS. Pictured (l-r): UW’s MIS Specialist Randy Rivault, Dick Breuhl, Omni Bank’s Todd Murphy and Frank Martinez.

United Way for the Greater New Orleans Area fell victim to the recently rising crime in the city.  During the weekend of January 6 – 7, thieves broke into the non-profit’s Canal Street office and stole 14 computers valued at approximately $30,000. “Luckily we have backups to virtually everything," stated Gary Ostroske, United Way for the Greater New Orleans Area president.

When Omni Bank heard about the burglary they hurried to help out.  Omni’s Senior Vice President Todd Murphy, and Director of Human Resources Frank Martinez, delivered ten computers to assist United Way employees in getting back to work.

“We’ve been partners with United Way for a long time. We’re eager to step up to the plate and help out when [United Way] has been victimized by something like this,” said Murphy, “We have 100% employee participation in our United Way campaign, and if there is anything else we can do, we are more than willing to help.”

Other companies and organizations have also contacted United Way about donating more computers including Entergy, United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast and Valero Refining.
