Durr gets on board with United Way
As a way to offer assistance to those in need, Durr Heavy Construction, LLC has created a cookbook, RHINO: Recipes Homemade in New Orleans, The company is currently selling the cookbook and donating proceeds to United Way.
“The cookbook started as a way to collect our favorite family recipes,” explained Dana Stumpf of Durr. “After completing the first version in December, we were pleasantly surprised with the book’s outcome and its popularity. We were in the process of adding new recipes when we began witnessing the devastation in Haiti and we decided that the cookbook could serve a dual purpose.”
The publication contains over 400 pages of recipes and tips that were collected from the employees, family and friends of Durr Heavy Construction. As a special bonus, a "New Orleans Chefs" section is included and features great recipes from Chef John Besh, Chef Matt Murphy, Chef Brian Landry and many more.
Cookbooks are $20. All proceeds from the sale of the first 500 cookbooks will be donated to United Way, and consequently, to Catholic Charities’ Haitian relief efforts. Subsequent sale proceeds will be split between Haitian relief efforts and New Orleans area food banks.

Ramsey’s Golden Giving
On February 24th Ramsey’s Jewelers partnered with United Way and Marrero Academy for a special fundraiser to raise money for both organizations, while putting a check in the hands of parents of Marrero Academy who donated old and unwanted gold jewelry. The parents and teachers were excited to participate in a fundraiser that in turn helped them out as well!
