The Problem

In 2009, Louisiana ranked 49th in infant mortality. The cause? It is primarily due to women entering pregnancy with untreated chronic conditions, infections and risk-taking behaviors.

The Solution

United Way increases access to critical health care services and helps vulnerable populations get the health services they need. We also ensure older adults and people with disabilities are able to live as independently as possible.

For every $1.00 invested, $5.70 is returned to society through one of our partners who addresses the physical and emotional well-being of first time mothers.

Strategic Plan

Key Strategies for Health include: facilitate physical and behavioral health services, take care of our seniors and assist those with disabilities.
