United Way Heads Up Distribution Center In Plaquemines Parish
|
| |
Plaquemines Parish residents are getting help in rebuilding their lives and communities through the United Way Distribution Center in Belle Chasse. The Distribution Center is servicing more than 100 people per day with necessary items to help in their recovery process including food, clothing, pots, pans, blankets, and even toys and books for children.
Heading up the Distribution Center is a new and unique role for United Way for the Greater New Orleans Area. In response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Plaquemines Parish President Benny Rouselle voiced an urgent plea for United Way to engage in a more direct approach and take control of what was a parish warehouse.
United Way usually acts as an indirect service provider, looking at community needs and problems, and then funding various programs through agencies to address those varied problems. The Distribution Center is located at 9491 Belle Chasse Hwy. and will remain open as long as needed. For more information, call (504) 495-8447.

Wood, cement and steel don’t build communities – people do. Working side by side. Hand in hand.
Person by person. Parish by parish. United we can rebuild lives and communities. |
