 Information

United Way’s primary focus is on long term hurricane recovery. We are providing a coordinated response to Katrina and Rita so we can have a healthy quality of life, a strong workforce and brighter economic future for our six-parish area. It’s no longer business as usual when it comes to funding our more than 80 programs. United Way has taken a more ‘hands on’ approach and moved to a grant process, open to all health and human service providers.

We provide an organized system to make people more independent and self sufficient in Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Tammany and Tangipahoa parishes.

DISASTER RECOVERY / SAFETY NET
United Way supports emergency food, shelter, clothing and counseling for those who need it, as well as crisis intervention for victims of crime, abuse and neglect.

HEALTH & INDEPENDENCE
United Way helps people live as independently as possible as secure, active, contributing members of society.

SUCCESSFUL CHILDREN/ STRONG FAMILIES
United Way helps children develop to their fullest potential in environments that promote learning and achievement while also supporting healthy, nurturing family relationships.
